I’m teasing the idea of a monthly newsletter giving you insights into what’s going on at LFG and Phases Beauty Studio.
The year has already felt so full in the best way!
The last decade has been about building a life around things I love. That quickly started to look like my kids, comics, and whimsy. This newsletter aims to keep you in the loop. Think of this as a cup of coffee and a conversation.
Some days I’m at the comic shop helping customers find their next read. On other days, I’m making art and enjoying this strange life.
If you’ve ever spent much time in your local comic shop, you know it’s more than selling books.
It’s community.
It’s helping someone fill in issues they have been trying to find since childhood.
It’s hearing passionate debates over beloved characters and series.
I get the privilege of seeing longtime collectors, new readers, and parents introducing their kids to comics. That feels special to me. I appreciate being able to provide a warm enviroment for customers to pick up their books or play games at our open tables.

Speaking of community, the Gadsden Collector Con is July 24 and 25! LFG will be there both days! The way this convention expands with each show is such a testament to how much events like this are in higher demand. Conventions become life long memories for most who attend.
Conventions have always been magical to me. Everyone gathered together to dress in elaborate costumes and obsess over all things nerdism.
I’m already looking forward to seeing familiar faces, meeting new people, and finding treasures.
Make sure to stop by our booth and see all the goodies we are bringing!
Another passion I’ve been indulging in is reading tarot at Phases Beauty Studio. People often assume tarot is about predicting the future, but it’s really about reflection and perspective.
I love the part of a reading where someone finds clarity in their inner voice and uses it to build the life of their dreams. This space for meaningful conversation is beautiful to experience.
If you’re curious about getting a reading, reach out to me.
Now let’s talk about books because thats probably what you’re here for.
The brightest on my recent list is Fireborn by Curt Pires, Franklin Jonas, and Patrick Mulholland, with Timmy Heague joining them on a few issues to write a backup story.

The writing is bold in the confidence of its storytelling. I have a feeling the world is bigger than what’s happening on the page. I love a book that trusts its readers to piece it together as they go. The first two issues felt like the perfect dose of silly and serious from the first page.
I’ve also continued making my way through Feral, which remains one of my favorite ongoing series. The first issue was one of my early reviews, and what provoked it was one my most inspiring moments with creators!

Every time I think I have a handle on my emotions when it comes to this series, Tony Fleecs, Trish Forstner, and Tone Rodriguez continue to surprise me.
I’ve been making notes and gathering thoughts for a deeper look into issues 21 through 23, and I can’t wait to share that review soon. Until then you can read that early one here.
I’ve also spent time with Seven Wives by Zoe Tunnell. As someone raised around the Mormon religion, this one has me hooked. Give me all that cult conspiracy! It’s been one of those that linger with me.
Seven Wives

These are just a few of the great books selling out in the store!
I’m always thinking about growth, and here lately, how it looks different than we expect. It feels invisible until you’re somewhere little you dreamed of.
Thank you for reading! Thank you for the support! Stop by LFG to say hello or schedule some time with me at Phases.
